 An Inconvenient Truth Minimize

Hey everyone,

I just watched this fantastic film.  It's awesome.  It really is.  If I were American and Al Gore were running for President, I'd vote for him.  But this is beyond politics.  For those who don't know, An Inconvenient Truth is about Global Warming.  it's hosted by Al Gore.  The film gave me a lot of insight into a man I found rather boring otherwise.  But I found him to be extremely thoughtful and intellgent in this piece.  I also agree wholeheartedly with his efforts, including the Kyoto Protocol, in order to help deal with this situation.  It's that old adage, stick a frog in hot water, it'll jump out.  Raise the temperature slowly and the frog will stay.  It's the same with our world. Until the shitstorm is facing these corporations and governments head on, the problem will continue.  Right now many governments and corporations are either too ignorant or too greedy or both.  I feel the biggest proponent of the environmental crisis we're facing has to do with the economy.  Money basically.  America is really one of the worst culprits for this situation but the world as a whole has to take part in cleaning up our act.  It seems like such a big problem that people don't want to try, but it comes down to little things for us as individuals.  Recycle, use public transport etc.  Hopefully USA and Australia come on board for the Kyoto Protocol or get new freaking leadership that will do that.

Another problem, a very big problem, is population.  See, this is why gay people are awesome.  There are too many freaking people on this planet.  In the last century the global population has increased by billions.  1900 - 1.65 billion.  2000 - 6 billion.  That is an absolutely incredible number.  And people think that much of a change someone won't influence the environment we live in?  Frankly, when faced with these facts, and a lot of the trouble we face in the world today, I think we need to start birthing more gay people, folks.  Gay people keep the population down.  And if you believe in God, then thank him for inventing gay people.  If you don't, thank nature for including a safeguard in this ridiculous population boom,.

It's positively frightening.  Maybe the bird flu threat is nature's way of protecting herself by wiping out a few hundred million folk.  If we were all cannibals and ate one other person, we'd be halfway there hahaha no thanks.  I thikn that mankind either has to slow down the fucking and replicating, or get wiped out a wee bit to bring the population down, or start expanding out into the stars in the next 100 years.  For the long term survival of both mankind and the earth we live in, we really do have to be less greedy and more responsible in our actions, by taking into account the consequences.  I urge you to watch An Inconvenient Truth and begin making some changes in your own lives that might make a small difference.  Small differences add up, people.  This film really inspired me.  I loved it.

i'm out for now.  Stay true, folks.

PEACE

I agree with a lot of what you have said. Al Gore does come off as a stick in the mud, but I do have to applaud him on his work. Hopefully our government will realize that greed will breed results we aren't prepared to deal with. The studies coming out on Global warming over the past year are scary.

I can't remember one at the top of my head, but the average fertility of a male living in an economically developed male is decreasing by 1% each year. Even showing, that the distance between a males scromtum and anus is decreasing to be similar to that of a female. And female are becoming more agressive. Interesting, eh?

One last point. In the developed countries, our population growths are negative. The under developed ones are producing so many children (mainly India, China), because of a variety of socio-economic reason. Living in India, has given me first hand experience of that.

I don't think it really matters where the overpopulation comes from, because eventually the entire world will have to deal with its effect. It's a problem for everyone.

That's a very interesting point you raised though with the scrotum and anus. Never knew that one.

Unfoundsolace what source did you get that anus and scrotum thing from?

Ive seen An Inconvenient Truth, and I'm glad I saw it. It puts things into perspective. However a good documentary would show both sides of the argument and I found it a little biased.
Still the evidence is in and global warming is caused by man.

Personally I think world population will peak at 9 or 10 billion before it begins to average out and then fall. I am a bit concerned about being able to feed 10 billion people.

If you believe in god, pray your the next Noah, if you believe in nature, then survival of the fittest :P

"An Inconvenient Truth" won an Academy Award (you know, the Oscar) for best documentary, and Al Gore won one as well for his apperance in the documentary.

The documentary is a film version of a lectture Al Gore has been giving for several years ongloball warming.
