I think that's a lot because we don't know them as well. Well, Mike we know, but June was often just there in the background, and though immensely important for many of the characters, not so much for us directly. We mourn her death because we know it hurts all our favourite characters, but we don't really miss her as a character. Well, that's how I see it at least, anyone agree?
Mike is different. I love Mike, but one of the reasons I prefer Marty Lee is that I find him more interesting. He's unpredictable and he really drives the story along sometimes. Mike is, like he's often described, the rock, never changing and always there to catch the others when they fall, in a way, and from a reader's persepctive it makes him less exciting. I love him, it's great to have him there and he's definitely a central and necessary part of the story, he's just not as captivating. However, I shouldn't be talking, seeing as Dade is, and I hate him
. This may be me just rationalising my love for Marty Lee, but I think it makes sense...
