Now before you answer this question, try to be realistic here.  A baby is a hell of a responsibility and extra baggage [which I don't think Dade should or would ever begrudge.  He might be a big dick, but he loves his unborn child].  It's the same reason why Claire won't ever go back to Carl.  I personally think Marcel would never take Dade back in the current situation.  What do you think?  Dade and Claire for the win?  Marcel and Dade for gay love everywhere?  Carl and Claire for Silly Grinner and Princess?

My thoughts.  Carl and Claire.  Carl's parents wouldn't rightfully want their son burdened with a girl who has a child.  Marcel's parents would probably frown upon it too but since when has he cared what they think really.  Claire is Carl's first real girlfriend and he lost his virginity to her.  He's liked her since Season 2 of Storm Front.  He was probably Claire's most reliable and genuinely into her boyfriend that she's ever had.  They both love each other.  But realistically, I don't think Claire would find it fair to be with Carl when she has a child to Dade.  She would find it too messy, and too burdensome on Carl.  Especially when he has a good chance of leaving Merlow for college soon.

Marcel and Dade.  Part of me thinks Marcel is Dade's true love.  Part of me still wishes they'd worked it out BEFORE this happened.  I don't think Marcel would ever mind having a baby around.  He's a genuinely caring character who would simply adjust.  However.  Even though he won't say it, Marcel won't take Dade back now as a matter of principle.  And he will distance himself from the situation altogether in order not to influence Dade and maybe because he's still a little pissed off at Dade for all the shit he caused.  Also, let's not forget, Marcel is a bit of a free spirit who comes with the breeze.  Nobody even knows if he's staying around [he isn't. or his name would be in the season 5 cast.  It's the same reason Storm is incognito.].

Dade and Claire are already great friends and have some sexual chemistry obviously.  Which is not saying much since Dade pretty much will fuck anything with two legs.  Their relationship is the least ideal of all three.  However, I do think it has actually the best chance of long term survival.  They are already beginning to work together as a team.  Contrary to popular belief, meaningful love can grow over time.  They already love each other.  I think the longer they last, the more they'll realize how fortunate they are to have the other.  Claire won't go back to Carl.  Dade doesn't really have a shot with Marcel anymore, and deep down, I believe even if he did, he'd still stay with Claire.  Part of him has always wanted a family.  He probably feels like he is echoing June, who had Abby when she was still quite young as well, and she still managed to become successful, but more importantly was still a fantastic mother.  He also wants to take responsibility and redeem himself somewhat.  Most of all, I believe both of them want to be with their child and probably couldn't stomach anyone else raising it. 

I guess in my final analysis, I'd want Carl and Claire as well as Marcel and Dade to be together.  But I think that's fairy tale stuff now.  They had their shot, but now it's time to get real.  I think Dade and Claire are set.  I guess I can always reread End of an Era for some cute Dade/Marcel moments.  Those were good times.
